8!
Yes, that's right, last night's Supernatural episode had built up a small pile of white, slobbery, tissues, that numbered up to 8. It almost would have been 7, but then I remembered that I hurled one at the TV just after the closing credits aired. lol.
(Don't worry, I got it back. lol)
I don't know where to begin about last night's episode. The whole thing from start to finish had me crying like a little girl ditched at Prom.
First off, there was Sam's goodbye to his brother Dean and Bobby. He said goodbye to Castiel as well, but we'll talk about that in a minute.
When Bobby told Sam not to quit fighting, my eyes began to tear, I mean, come on! He was going to have an all out Jedi-Mind battle with the Devil himself!
Sam then walks over to Castiel. He tells the fallen angel to take care of Bobby and Dean, and Cas then says that's not possible. Just now starting to catch on to human ways of communication, he quickly says he needs to lie. "Sure..." he tells Sam.
Sam walks away and shakes his head.
The funny parts of the episode were genuinely clever and cracked me up. But in this episode, it just felt...well, wrong to be laughing, it was way out of place. I understand the need to lighten the mood, but there is a time and a place.
Then, Sam moves to the trunk, there, several gallon jugs of demon blood sit. Sam has to drink it to be able to keep his body intact when Lucifer finally takes hold of it. He takes a deep breath and looks at Dean, and then asks him not to view this. Now they're flowing down my cheek.
Sam announces himself to the demons, and Sam and Dean are taken to meet Lucifer himself.
A bunch of things happen, that I really don't have the time nor the memory to divulge here. But let's just say that I was still crying, and that I glanced at the clock every five or so minutes to see how much time was left in the episode.
We jump to an old cemetery located in Lawrence, Kansas. *nudge-nudge* to the die hards here.
Lucifer is standing amongst the graves, when we see Adam appear. Only, he isn't Adam anymore, Sam and Dean's younger brother. He's Michael. They argue, and discuss God and war, and Lucifer's behavior. Just as they decide to get on with it, here comes Dean. He plugs in a Def Leopard song into the Impala and drives up to the two angels, in slow motion Dean glory.
Michael gets upset and yells at Dean to leave because he isn't part of the story anymore, and Dean tells him to cram it. Just as Michael gets ready to do...I don't know, something.
We hear, "Hey, a$$ butt!"
And a vile of holy fire is tossed at Michael, sending him away for a few minutes, so Dean can talk to Sam/Lucifer.
And yes, Castiel said that. So close, but not really Cas.
You didn't really get to savor his cuss word however, because Lucifer makes Castiel explode because he wanted to deal with Micheal.
This is where my parents heard the pained gasp. I had never reacted this way to a character death, ever! Not even Dean's! There, in those moments, did I realize, just how much I like that little angel.
Bobby then shoots Lucifer with the Colt, and gets his neck wrung for his trouble.
Bang! Bang! Just like that, two huge characters, gone.
I can't put into words how I felt about that. Hollow I guess. Just they way they went, and so fast, that you had no time to really process them.
Now Lucifer turns to Dean.
I think here, I'm on tissue five, and number continues to rise.
Dean doesn't do anything, as Lucifer pounds Dean into the Impala and begins to beat the crap out of him.
But all the while, Dean just keeps calling for Sam. "Don't worry Sam," he says, "I'm still here." Or, "Sammy? Is that you?" "Are you in there?"
I was choking here, and let's just say, Bravo to whoever did Dean's makeup for this scene. Awesome, and sad at that same time.
Anyways, just as Lucifer is about to deliver his death hit, he pauses, and a light is seen in Sam's eyes. He focuses on the Impala, and a bunch of memories flash through, ranging in chronological order from the first season on.
The Impala brings out Sam!!!! Heck yes!
Sam then takes the Four Horsemen's rings and opens a cage to Hell. Michael returns and does this whole destiny blah, blah, blah. And tries to pull Sam out. But Sam being the Sasquatch that he is, pulls little Adam/Michael in with him.
Dean just sits there...he thinks all is lost.
But then we see Cas!
Dean asks Cas if he is God, and Cas thanks him for the compliment and says no, God brought him back. And better than ever. He's a fully fledged angel now, and he heals Dean and Bobby.
Now Dean keeps a promise he made to Sam and goes to a house. (Other details not important.)
There we see him in the house, and camera comes out of the window onto a streetlamp. It flickers out, and it pans down to a person, and of course....it's Sam/Lucifer.
Enter closing credits.
And now you know why I launched the tissue at the TV. And why I went through 8 of them. lol.
Best episode ever Kripke! Well done!
