Ok, every week I used to post bulletins on Myspace on my thoughts about the previous episode. Now that I have an actual place to put these, I think I'll continue do that. Plus, I think here, I might have people who will actually read them. LOL
From there very first seconds you could tell that the show was different. "The Road So Far" clip had no AC/DC, only reviewed "Swan Song," the season finale, not the whole 5th season, and the color was interesting.
We then jump to Dean living the "apple pie life." While listening to Bob Seger's "Beautiful Loser," we see how his life has changed...sort of. The writers here found a clever way to parallel his home life with his hunter life.
Of course his hunting roots are always close by as Dean seems to notice there might be something going on in his town, as Wendigo like claw marks are all over town. Just as he's getting ready to jump back into his hunting routine, BAM!!! and I do mean, BAM!!! the Yellow Eyed Demon, aka Azazel, jumps him.
I screamed.
And I was excited to see my all time favorite bad guy return...if even it was for only a short time.
Of course, out of nowhere Sam shows up to save Dean. We then learn that it isn't Wendigos of the YED plaguing his town, but some Jin. We also meet more Campbells, and somehow Samuel was brought back to life.
The episode then goes mostly formulaic, they hunt the Jin, Dean gets angry at Sam and Bobby for not telling him he's alive. The Jin make a surprise attack, they still kill them, and at the end Dean still decides to stay with Lisa and Ben.
What's bugging me is that this season/episode has had bad blood since before it evened aired. I have been a fan of many shows, and have joined forums and discussion groups of other shows and movies and never have I met such critical and demanding fans. I don't know, maybe it's just the certain forum I'm on, and I have contemplated leaving it many times, but I am sick of the negativity. Granted, this episode wasn't stellar, but it was nowhere near as bad as "Fallen Idols." My review for that is in my season 5 recap blog entry. Already they're giving up just after this episode. But me? I'm ready for a shake up to the show, and eager to go back to some MOTWs. (Monster of the Week)
So, next week's episode looks creepy and looks like something out of Season 2, I am ready and can't wait to view it.
You should know, that my favorite part of every Supernatural premiere, is seeing what the next title card is, and this one ranks as one of my faves.
Here is the preview for next week's episode. It looks like another scary child episode. I like those. And for some reason, it's entitle, "Two and a Half Men." Huh...my interest is peaked for sure.
